Totally-Locally

Have you heard of Totally-Locally? Last week a local resident told me about it, and I thought it was well worth mentioning on Thornbury People.
The main purpose of the group is to grow food locally, all because the organisation feels that cheap food is a luxury we can only afford as long as we still have cheap oil - so with oil reserves running low Totally-Locally is a grass roots organisation that aims "to put in place an infrastructure of productivity for all of us who are like minded and care."
Jane Sunnucks from Old Down, the brains behind Totally-Locally said:
"It will be great to build up networks of economic solidarity, strengthening the network of local food producers; this includes surpluses from gardens and allotments. However, in the end, it will be the powers of the community that will make this happen."
Unfortunately the latest meeting was last weekend, but if you are interested in swapping, sharing or selling your locally produced food then you can attend Totally-Locally's next event on Saturday the 5th of June at 12 noon on Tockington Green.
For more information about the group you can check out their website at http://www.totally-locally.org/
