Thornbury`s new housing scheme

I was horrified by the front page news in the Gazette this week
It appears we are being told what a wonderful idea it would be to have 600 new houses in Thornbury.
the argument used is that was that in Thornbury we are an aging population and we need new estates to bring in the younger generation.
yes we have a lot of older people in Thornbury, butt this is because thonbury had a big building boom in the 70s and80s. Those young families who moved in then have now grown up and the then children have moved away from their home town as young people generally do. Left behind are the now aging parents or maybe now a lone parent. This always happens with new estates as any one who has the slightest knowledge of demographics knows.
AAlso;so 600 homes means at least 600 more cars trying to get down the A38 every morning adding to the chaos at the Almondsbury junction and 600 more cars trying to get onto the Thornbury carparks on a ASaturday morning.
Is our council mad?

This is why its important to boost the economy in Thornbury. If the council decides to create extra housing then they will need to provide the work for anyone hoping to move here. That said, I think there is a very large proportion of residents who commute from the town instead of working here; hence the problems that already exist on the A38.
