South Glos Council boss receives £14,605 pay rise!

A South Gloucestershire Council boss has had a "very good recession" at taxpayers' expense.

More of them than ever are earning massive amounts, and they even enjoyed a healthy pay rise while everyone else was suffering pay freezes, cuts or redundancies. It is unfair that these public servants have been having "a whale of a time" while the ordinary taxpayers who fund their generous deals have been struggling to survive the recession.

The Chief Executive of South Gloucestershire Council had a pay rise in 08/09 of 10.1% which is an extra £14,605 on top of her £144,984 from the previous year. Her expenses came to £2498.52 so plus her expenses she is on £159,588.52.

@CP1953 I'm sorry you feel as you do. bonsaicrazy, who is well known to you (in spite of your "he/she" reference), suggested that democracy no longer existed in the UK, and I was interested to know why he thought that way. He has chosen not to explain, which (as I am sure you will agree) is sad, because you welcome people putting forward their opinions. As for me being a troll, you are wrong, just as bonsaicrazy was before, because a troll starts a controversial topic, just to enflame argument. I have avoided starting any topics, largely since Trucks79 (whose gender is also known to you) began as Community Publisher. Since then, I have tried to provide information regarding subjects raised by others. Prior to that I contributed items where the truth behind the news was investigated. Right now, I would suggest that there are few people posting to this website for these 6 reasons: (1) lack of promotion of the site; (2) lack of significant/interesting news stories other than those provided by Northcliffe Media (which are available elsewhere, in any case); (3) poor standards of literacy (grammar and spelling); (4) users supporting members of their own obvious clique, and opposing involvement from newcomers; (5) poor social, poltical and economic analysis; and (6) the feeling that this is a family blog.

I read through most of your postings on this site bland media...and they are always controvertial..It seems everyone who puts anything on here is 'jumped on' by you and your comments? I thought the point of this website is for people to put their opinions, backed up with facts or not. Most of us do not have the time on our hands to sit at google all day long just to have one up on every other poster!! I for one have had enough..maybe that's why there are few people who choose to post their comments? I think in internet terms, you are known as what is called a troll. As for knowing bonsaicrazy's gender...I am not kidding anyone, I know his gender..and I have a suspicion you also do........if any other poster feels I am trying to kid them...please leave a comment!

@bonsaicrazy The difference between you and me, is that I support my opinion with facts, you just spout out, with nothing to substantiate what you are saying. When I choose to contribute, I do provide my insight, as you are already aware.

Sorry Bland_Media.....got better things to do with my time! no political insight at all.....just my own views (and those of many) on our Government. Maybe you could write an article on your political insights? You certainly seem to be opinionated on many posts on this website.
