A Grade II listed Georgian Mansion that was once the home of one of England’s greatest cricketers has just come on to the market to let as offices.

Park House is a hidden gem just off the High Street in Thornbury, near Bristol, with Colliers International appointed to find a business to occupy the building, which boasts over 3,000 square feet of space in landscaped grounds.

Dr Edward Mills Grace moved into the house with his family in 1880. Known as EM Grace his cricketing career was overshadowed by that of his younger brother WG Grace – but in the 1860s and 1870s he was one of England’s most famous cricketers.

EM Grace played alongside his two brothers in the first ever Test Match at The Oval and notched up over 10,000 runs in his first class cricket career later becoming secretary of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club at a time when it dominated the English game.

He made his home at Park House while a Thornbury doctor and serving as coroner for the area.

Stephen Lipfriend of Colliers International said: “Park House was converted to offices some time ago and we believe it would make a prestigious headquarters building. With landscaped grounds and ample car parking spaces it is full of character.

“Although it is only yards from Thornbury High Street it is a hidden gem and ideal for a business that is looking for something a little different to the modern business park environment.

“We are expecting a great deal of interest as Thornbury is a popular business location close to the motorway and offices with such character are rare.”

Colliers International say the annual rent of £37,000 equates to £12.50 per square foot.
