New Years in Thornbury

Thornbury People started it's life earlier this year, and now we soldier on into 2010 with a look at how you can celebrate New Years in Thornbury.
No doubt many of you will be planing to spend the day with friends and family, I know this because lots of new years plans are made months in advance! But, for those of you stuck for something to do (or who fancy a change this year) there are several events you can attend around Thornbury.
This may be late notice, but Tortworth Court and the Alveston House Hotel have been offering special packages for new years. Tortworth offers a five course dinner and champagne reception for your money, while Alveston House provides afternoon tea followed by a candlelight dinner in the evening. Both venues also offer accommodation for the night, as well as dancing or disco of some form! Check http://tortworth-court-hotel.four-pillars.co.uk/ and http://www.alvestonhousehotel.co.uk/ for more details.
If you're interested in dinner and dancing for new years while staying well within Thornbury then La Bruschetta may be the place for you. Every fifteen minutes from 9pm a bottle of champagne can be won be participating in a raffle (all profits go to a local homeless charity). Reservations must be made in advance.
Of course, if you want something a bit more low key there are always plenty of pubs in and around Thornbury that will be more than happy to have your company come midnight on the 31st.
Let us know your plans for New Years (or how it went) by posting a comment here on Thornbury People. Now all that's left is for me to wish a happy new year to all our readers!
