Heavy Snowfall in Thornbury

After a false start with my camera earlier today (the battery died on me) I was able to get into Thornbury and take some pictures of the heavy snowfall in Thornbury.

If you were able to negotiate your way around the snowball fights going on up and down the high street you'll have noticed that virtually every shop closed early today (my bank cited 'adverse weather conditions' as the reason for failing to be open). Looking at the roads and trying to steady myself on the ice today I can easily understand why people have been having trouble in this weather. On my walk into town I saw a fair amount of cars spinning their wheels on the ice, and when I went to Tesco's later in the day the empty spots in lots of the shelves implied that some trucks just weren't getting through.

However, for all the misery the snow is causing for some it seems that lots of residents have been enjoying it - usually you wouldn't even hope to use a sledge around here, but today I saw groups of children and their parents take to the playing fields. Thornbury is a beautiful sight to behold at the moment, and the pictures I took today are only a glimpse into what the town can look like.
