Work finally starts to improve the Swan in Thornbury

No you have not misread the title! Work really has finally started on improving the external look of the Swan public house in the High Street.

Improvements taking place at the Swan in Thornbury

The standards of the Swan pub which is located in a prime location on the High Street have been declining over the years and as a result major structural work is now needed to strengthen the entrance to the pub.

The Swan which is owned by the pub chain Enterprise Inns has been trying to find a suitable tenant to take on a new lease for the Swan and a couple of months ago a new tenant was appointed.

The Swan is currently in a poor state of repair but with investment from Enterprise Inns as well as a new tenant taking over the venue there are clear signs of the standards beginning to improve.

When was the last time you drank in the Swan? Would you be tempted to return for a drink or even a meal once the improvements have been made?

Bigmandave, I have been in contact with the new landlady and she is certainly on the ball. It seems that there are plenty of things planned to restore the Swan. I want to see the swan do well and from what I have been told the landlady wants the Swan to play a key part in the community. If anyone has any ideas on what you would like the Swan to offer then please feel free to post your comments on here. I know that the landlady uses the Thornburypeople site and all comments and ideas are taken on board.

Your right, the Swan has been in a poor state for many years and has been closed for some time. Enterprise has given a number of dates in the past which have all proven to be unsuccessful in the reopening of the pub. Just hang fire a little longer and I am sure the Swan will be reopen for business soon.

Hi Bigmandave. I have dates pencilled in and dont want to give false hope to the people of Thornbury until I have met with the contractors on Friday, however I am moving in on 12th when the shutters will be coming down and then the internal work being carried out the following week and the external decorations the following week with the view to opening the end of that week, however as I mentioned earlier I am meeting with the contractors on Friday and will be able to say more when I have met with them but as I have said iT am waiting confirmation. I am aware that it is going to take more than a lick of paint!!!

so no details on a date then? or info on whats on offer? it would still seem that the pub is still TO LET!!!!

The Swan will be reopening after work has been carried out ie decorating internally and externally and as well as other work. I will keep you updated shortly on new and events that are happening shortly.
