Luckily when it comes to needing help with your computer or laptop you really cannot be in safer hands than with The IT Guru, they are located in Severn Beach near Thornbury and have been running since June 2006.
The IT Guru covers everything from Hardware and software upgrades, support, sales and installations, wireless technology, networking and much more.
When it comes to protecting your computer they can even help by supplying you with the latest Norton Internet security as well as an array of other security software.
The IT Guru currently have Norton Internet Security on offer at just £20.00 that will give you complete protection on up to three different machines.
Don’t worry if you are unsure on how to add or remove software as for £20.00 The IT Guru will call out to your home and carry out the installation process for you. They will even show you how to use the software as well as how to get the best out of all the features. They will even be happy to troubleshoot or answer any other computer related problems for you.
If you have children or grandchildren that use your computer then you might want to think about limiting the content that they can view. You can easily do this with software such as Cyberpatrol. Cyberpatrol will allow you to restrict access to certain websites as well as chat rooms and social networking sites such as Facebook or MySpace. Once again The IT Guru will be more than happy to supply and install the software for you.
I caught up with Kevin from The IT Guru earlier today and when I asked him what tips he had for people using the internet Kevin said “Our best advice is to ensure you have a good piece of up to date antivirus software as viruses can be stored in a large number of files including music files and pictures. Regularly do a full system check to ensure no viruses are lurking in your system. When buying on the internet ensure the padlock is displayed before handing out any of your credit card details, you can click on the padlock and click on “view certificate” to check further information. We would recommend you check the “Issued to” is the same website or company as the site you are visiting also check the “Valid from” to ensure the certificate is valid. These are just a few things you can do to keep safe on the internet”.
If you have had any bad experiences of using the internet or any stories that you would like to share then we would love to hear them.
Also if you have previously used The IT Guru then we would love to know what you thought about the company and the services that they provided. You can also add a free business review HERE.

@bigmandave, i agree i think the internet already plays a big part in everyday life and it is only going to get bigger. with this in mind I think schools should focus more on teaching IT and safety. But this should also fall on to the parents as well as it is important that the parents have a clear understanding as well.

ReportThe internet is a worry even more so if you have children that like to use it for going on websites such as NickJr or Cbeebies. I am even more concerned about chat rooms when they are older.
I dont think enough is being done at schools to teach children how to be safe online. whats even more of a problem is that children seem to know more about computers than most adults. I am amazed at what my little boy can do on the laptop.
