Those double-yellow lines... what are they for again?

Judging from the numbers who park on the high street, or people who like to park on the double-yellows near my daughter's primary school, even on the corner of a junction like they do at Crossways, I'm guessing that a double-yellow is seen as "optional" in these parts?
Odd, because I have a vague recollection that doing so makes it more dangerous for those who can be bothered to park properly. I suspect that some on the high street are blue badge holders, but near the school I suspect they're just lazy, inconsiderate etc's.

I think that name and shame has to be the way forward to help solve this problem however I can see a couple of issues 1, this would not work with parents that just dont care, the way they see it is that lack of parking is not their problem and they are there fdor a reason and thats to collect the child and do not have time to hunt around for a parking space. 2, potental law aspect for showing a photo or naming and last is the potential of some childen being bullied as a result of their parents being named in a news letter. BUT I agree that this problem really does need dealing with.

ReportThe police need to take a zero tolerance on mindless people that think they can just ram their cars where ever they feel like it. They should attend schools during collection and drop of times and start booking these people!! I also agree with the schools doing a name and shame maybe even the gazette should publish photos each week.

Report@philip_ruse as I understand the police are clamping down on parking outside the local schools once the term starts. I for one totally agree with you about this. My daughter’s school is the same and the way that some people park is nothing less than crazy. fingers crossed that nothing will happen to children or any member of the public as a result of such poor parking even more so outside schools. But just a couple of questions 1, Should the schools do more to control such problems may be name and shame in newsletters ect 2, look at additional areas where people can park when on the school run after all some schools have very little parking. I have a feeling the way things are that question one would be seen as a human rights issue and schools could end up in court lol.
