The Thornbury steering group has made significant progress to recommend what community health services could be provided from Thornbury in the future and work is continuing to develop a Strategic Outline Case by the autumn.

At the end of last year the group held a workshop session to discuss options for how services could be developed for the local population in the future.
NHS South Gloucestershire is now testing these draft options to ensure that they are clinically, operationally and financially viable. This is essential work to ensure we develop services that meet quality benchmarks, are accessible for patients and are financially viable into the future.
This feasibility report will be used to form the basis of a Strategic Outline Case that will be prepared by the autumn and presented to the Board of NHS South Gloucestershire to consider. It will also be used to further refi ne the list of services that could be developed for Thornbury.
When we have developed the Strategic Outline Case we will be able to give an estimate of when community services will be in place for Thornbury. It is not possible to give an estimate ahead of the Strategic Outline Case because it’s contents will give us an indication of how long it will take to get community services up
and running.
If the Thornbury steering group finally proposes services that differ from what the NHS agreed to provide in Thornbury as part of the Bristol Health Services Plan then we will consult with the local population for their views.
