Local residents fear that a local pub in the village have shut it’s door for the last time last The Cross Hands pub in pilning closed suddenly last Wednesday.
The pub operator Punch Taverns have confirmed that the closure is only temporary whilst they seek a new tenant, The Cross Hands closed only a couple of months ago when the previous landlord surrendered there tenancy sparking fears that the pub would be sold to developers.
The pub was quickly reopened and continued trading with a temporary tenant, but the temporary tenant left without notice last Wednesday resulting in the chain having to close the pub without notice.
A local Pilning businessman is in the process of purchasing the public house and the current owners Punch taverns have insisted that they would continue to ensure that the Cross hands remained trading until the deal was sealed.
It is expected that the Cross hands will remain shut for around another week or so until a new temporary tenant is appointed.
Meanwhile other pubs in the area will no doubt be cashing in on the temporary closure whilst making the most of the remaining world cup games. However the local fast food van is still open for business in the Cross Hands car park and will continue to trade there until he is told otherwise.
What do you think about the closure? Have you temporary lost your local? Where will you now be drinking? Let us know your thought on the closure and the possible future of the Cross Hands.
