I Have today received a letter from the Halifax confirming that they plan to withdraw the counter services in Thornbury as from Tuesday 2nd November 2010.

No more halifax in Thornbury
The good news Is that you can now use the post office pay money and cheques as well as also being able to use Lloyds TSB.
So at first the withdrawal of the agency branch in Thornbury seemed bad news and off course it will be for the small number of staff employed at the branch however after looking into it further its clearer that in fact it will not actually change anything.
After all the branch was only an agency branch and therefore was limited to what you could and couldn’t do at the branch.
The other question remains what will happen to the retail unit now? Surly if the agency branch goes then there will be no need to keep the building? So does this mean that the high street will be host to yet another empty shop?
What are your views on the decision to withdraw the counter service? Will it affect you? Let us know what you think.
For further advice on the closure of the counter services at the Thornbury branch you can contact the Halifax directly on 0800 028 8419.
