The day has finally arrived for thousands of A-level students across the country, Students from all secondary schools including The Castle School and Marlwood School will today find out if the hard work, dedication and commitment has finally paid off.

Pupils from secondary schools throughout South Gloucestershire will today find out if they have gained the qualification that they need to book their place at University or to apply for work in their chosen field.

Year on year it becomes tougher for students to secure a place at university and last year some 45,000 students were rejected places, raising concerns that the exams are becoming to easy for students.

This year the results are looking promising, I spoke to a number of nervous students whilst they were gearing up for the big moment. One student told me “I have worked really hard for this and I am just hoping and praying that I will make the grade” Another student told me “I want to make my mum and dad proud, They have stood by me and this is my way of repaying them”

The results mean a lot to all the students and today’s results will decide their next step. However for the students that sadly do not achieve the required grade there are still options available to them and connexions West are on hand to give confidential, free and impartial advice.

Students should visit http://www.connexionswest.org.uk For more information about university places visit www.ucas.com
