Gwent Police have today confirmed that at 3.40pm yesterday they received a report that a car had been parked up on the westbound hard shoulder of the second Severn Crossing, this raised concerns that there was a possibility someone had jumped over the side of the crossing.

After unsuccessful attempts last night to locate and recover a body the Gwent Police have confirmed that SARA, Coastguard and RAF search and rescue are searching for the missing person. Gwent Police are in the process of identifying the individual who is believed to be male.
