Welcome to South Gloucestershire Council Family Placement Team.
Here in the team we are always looking to attract, recruit, approve and retain more foster carers & adopters. We are also always looking for short break carers for disabled children & young people. This is a continuous process as the number of children coming into care, or in need of short breaks, never really decreases.
With fostering we particularly need people who are able to offer care for under 5’s, over 11’s and sibling groups. We are also always looking for people able to offer longer term care for those placements in need of it. Our tagline says, ‘Foster Care means being there’, so the follow-up question we ask potential carers is “… so could you ‘be there’ for our children in care ?”
For those people who can offer short breaks of perhaps as little as one weekend a month - and who have experience of working/volunteering with and/or having disabled children or young people - there is Share the Care. We are always looking for more people who can provide this care to give the child something different to look forward to on a regular basis, whilst also giving his/her parents respite. People with experience of working/volunteering with, caring for, or just being around children on the autistic spectrum are particularly sought.
If you would like to talk about fostering, adoption or Share the Care please call on 01454 866423. If you would like to gain more information about any or all of these areas of the Team’s work you can visit our Adoption and Fostering web page using the link in the left hand panel above.
