The police need to be 100% sure that they have the correct person. They do not want a repeat of previous failings. The police know what time they have and they seem to be using the most of it to ensure that they get things right.
I for one must say the police have done a really good job over the last few days by making a quick arrest and showing a very high level of police presence on our streets. I understand that people will be feeling worried and concerned at the moment especially the elderly. Some people have commented about walking home late at night on their own, feeling safe in their homes ect. I think if the police felt that they may have the wrong person under arrest then they would make a string of recommendations to the public about how to stay safe ect. They have not done this which makes me think they are sure they have the correct person under arrest.

ReportThe only thing I can think is that they truly do not have enough to go on? Had it been cut and dried that the person arrested VERY QUICKLY after the body was found...then they would have charged him by now. Obviously they are not sure they have the right man? I suppose if they could find the weapon then dna would prove things..but needle and haystack comes to mind!! The Police obviously did a good job in arresting this suspect...so we shall just have to wait and see. To be honest, I think the police presence is making people feel more uneasy? I know it is with my aged Mother

ReportSorry, can we get back to the topic at hand here! There is at the moment potentially a murderer at large! I have a issue with the police, some of the articles on here are saying how well the police have handled the murder hunt. But I don't agree!!!! The police are not saying much at all, residents including my mother are concerned and in fear, people are talking, names are flying around so far I have been told of 4 possible names yet the police are doing nothing to reassure the people. well apart from maybe making the most out of overtime!
Come on police sort it out!

ReportAgree with bigmandave...my mother is also 83 and even though she lives in a secure place she has been badly effected by this news. but hey ho....never mind the murder, the miss spelt Woodleigh is much more important!

Reportreally? does it matter that much about a spelling mistake? may be the Sita were trying to get the message out as fast as they can so that people knew. May be rather than picking holes in a spelling mistake you could have let people know about the suspended collections!!!
The whole of Thornbury is in shock at the news of the murder, people are worried about being out alone at night, my mother who is 82 year old living in Thornbury is worried and does not feel safe in her home at the moment but hold the front page as there is something much more important happening. Sita have made a spelling mistake! Seriously...........
