Children and adults from St John Ambulance units across Bristol, Bath and Weston joined forces to take part in a sponsored torch relay yesterday (Saturday 28th April 2012.

Teams of cadets, leaders and parent helpers braved the windy weather and light rain to raise funds for the well-respected charity.

Organisers from the St John ambulance base in Bedminster had planned the event so that all the cadets across the area could take part.

All the cadets, leaders and parent helpers that took part on the day were then invited back to the Harry Crook Centre for a fire and BBQ as well as a much needed drink.

Local cadet Chloe from Thornbury said "I really like being a part of the St John ambulance in Thornbury, we learn so much and you never know when you might be needed to give some lifesaving treatment"

Louise, a parent helper at the Thornbury centre added "St John ambulance is a great club for children to become involved in; the children have a fantastic time whilst also learning first aid as well as a wide range of life skills"
