Service delays as person is hit by train in Pilning near Thornbury

National Rail have confirmed the sad news that a person has been hit by a train near the Severn Tunnel in Pilning. So far no further information has been released by Avon and Somerset Police or National Rail.

National Rail confirm person hit by a Train early today
However National Rail have confirmed that the following train services have been affected.
•Journeys between Bristol and Cardiff Central may be delayed by up to 60 minutes
•Some trains may be diverted via Gloucester
•Buses will run between Bristol Parkway and Newport
No further information is available however we will add further information once it becomes available.

UPDATE:- British Transport Police confirmed that a train shas truck and killed a man near the Severn Tunnel entrance.
The BTP have stated that officers from the British Transport Police are currently retrieving the body and the death is not believed to be suspicious..
The man who has not yet ben named was struck by the 15:55 service from Cardiff to London Paddington.
