The runners will raise money for PROPS, which improves the lives of young people with special needs when they have left school through a range of life enhancing opportunities.
Working with community partners, PROPS offer lifelong learning opportunities including vocational experiences, training and residential experiences to help students develop independence skills.
The charity relies heavily on income from its various initiatives and through donations and fundraising events, so it is thrilled to have gained the support of Thornbury Running Club.
The event kicks off at 8.12am, on December 20, and will celebrate the success of the Olympic Games.
Club members will run in pairs forming a continuous relay for 12-hours around Thornbury High Street and Rock Street, with the aim of raising £2012 for PROPS.
Janet Constable, of Thornbury Running Club, said: "We wanted to celebrate the success and inspirational effect that the Olympics has had on our members by making a last donation to PROPS our charity of the year.
"We hope to run 2012 laps in a continuous relay on 20th of the twelfth month to raise £2,012."
David Reeves, head of Briarwood's sixth form, who founded PROPS at The Vassall Centre more than a decade ago, said he is thrilled that the organisation will be the event beneficiary.
He said: "Most of our funding is generated by fundraising events such as this, which enable us to improve the lives of young people within the special needs community.
"Our work helps transform so many lives by helping our students to become more independent and gain vocational skills such as sign making, printing and farm based activities, upon which they can build vocational opportunities.
"All of us here at PROPS would like to say a huge thank you to all the runners who are giving up their time to take on this 12-hour challenge and help raise vital funds towards our work."
