Do you have children that are currently at school age? If so then a new service recently launched by Ofsted allows parents to rate their child's school. The quick and simple to use service consists of 12 questions that you need to answer, for example, 'My child is happy at this school' with a choice of responses such as Strongly Agree, Agree, disagree, Strongly Disagree or Don't Know.

You can give your views about your child's school if it is a maintained school or an academy (including free schools). At the moment however you cannot give your views on an independent school.

To search for your child's school all you have to do is enter the name of the school and part of the address the road name, area or postcode in the search boxes when you are asked to.

The site requires your email address and a password to complete the questionnaire. Your email address will be stored on their sites database in order to ensure that people cannot make multiple entries from the same email address. A great benefit to this service is that schools will not have access to any email addresses, and all results will remain anonymous. If you fill in the questionnaire more than once for any school using the same email address, the previous entry will be over-written. Parent View is designed so that there will only ever be one questionnaire from each email address for a specific school in that school year.

Local parent Sarah Wills said "I think this is a great chance for parents to have their say without feeling that the school will single them out if anything detrimental is said about the school"
