Mixed feelings from locals as Thornbury Police station goes up for Sale

Everyone knew it would happen at some point after the force announced
their plans to close the Thornbury Police Station some time ago. Now a For Sale
board has been attached to the wall at the front of the building.
A message on the Avon and Somerset Police website reads, We
have begun to market the site well in advance of its closure to ensure we get
the best market value for the site on behalf of the communities we serve.
The move is part of a force wide accommodation strategy to
ensure police services are available and accessible to the public across the
Avon and Somerset policing area.
Negotiations are underway to move local police services to a base at South
Gloucestershire Council's offices in Castle Street, Thornbury. No date has been
set for this move but the station will not close until officers have
transferred to the new offices.
The station became appointment-only a year ago, due to low demand for a public
enquiry office. Policing services for the local community will remain
completely unaffected.
Just a few months ago residents spoke out about their fear of
future police presence in the town following the shocking Murder of Reverend John Suddards. The discovery of murdered Reverend John Suddards resulted
in the largest man hunt and police presence that Thornbury has ever seen.
Is closing and
selling the Thornbury Police station the right thing to do? Are you concerned
about the future police presence in the town following the closure? Let us know
your views .

Im guessing it will be knocked down and turned in to new flats? Probably by Barrett Homes as they have done quite a bit around there!
