Men steal from 97-year-old woman at her Thornbury home.
At about 6pm a man called on her home in Blakes Road claiming to be from a water company. He stated that he needed to look at her pipes in order to resolve a problem at a neighbours address.
The woman allowed the man into her home and stayed with him the whole time. While she was with him another unknown man entered her home, went upstairs, and took cash from a jewellery box and further cash from her purse.
Officers investigating this incident are keen to speak to anyone who saw the door knocker in the area at the time. He is described as white, aged between 20 and 22, 5ft 5ins, of a medium build and with light brown short hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a blue anorak. He also has a cord round his neck with a badge.
This is one of a number of incidents in the area and officers are advising all residents to be wary of unexpected callers.
Anyone who may have information in relation to this crime is asked to contact South Gloucestershire CID on 101.
