Man dies in M5 crash near Taunton on Saturday: Police witness appeal

A man died and two people were seriously injured after a collision on the M5 near Taunton on Saturday (March 9).

The accident happened between junctions 25 and 26 at Taunton (southbound) at about 6.10am.

A man in his 20s died as a result of injuries sustained and two others were taken to Musgrove Park hospital in a life threatening condition.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information.

Sergeant Jim Whatley from the Roads Policing Unit said: "This is a serious incident in which a young man has tragically lost his life. I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who was using the motorway network at this time who may have witnessed this collision."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.

    Update: The man who died has been named as Daniel Gunn, of Tiverton.

    His family have paid the following tribute to Daniel:

    "Keith, Maria, Jamie and Laura would like to thank all their family and friends for their kind support and thoughts after their tragic loss of their dear son Daniel. He was a wonderful son, brother and everybody's true friend."
