Tireless Afghan Heroes fundraiser Tony Hawl is organising a

40s and 50s themed Jive Night to raise money for the charity.

The event will be held on Friday October 26 at the Men's Social Club in Shirehampton, Bristol, with a strict 40s/50s Army, Navy and Royal Air Force dress code.

Tony, from Stockwood, is now Bristol coordinator for the charity.

He said: "This will be a night of pure nostalgia for many people as well as being an ideal opportunity to support the work of Afghan Heroes. Even the DJ   dresses up as Captain Mainwaring from Dad's Army."

Cycling fan Tony has already raised hundreds of pounds for the charity set up in 2009   by a group of mothers who had all lost sons in Afghanistan and who felt a specialist charity was needed to support families and service personnel.

To date the Shepton Mallet-based charity has set up a network of support groups across the country, sent 24,500 boxes of home comforts for troops on the front line, Supplied Multi Media equipment in to The Queen Elizabeth Hospital & Camp Bastion, established the first holiday home where returning troops and the families of the fallen can spend quality time with their family. It continues to provide support for families of the fallen our returning troops and our wounded.

Part of those plans is to open a facility so when our wounded or returning soldiers are medically discharged they have a base to rebuild their lives, to retrain in to new careers and return to a normal civilian life.

Tickets for the event at £8 each are available from Tony on  07510 682 706.
