A THORNBURY pub landlord has raised £10,000 for a meningitis charity.

Dave Cox has held a series of fundraising events for Kingswood-based Meningitis UK.

He reached the landmark figure after raising £1,000 through a charity fun day and auction at the Anchor Inn.

Among the lots on offer were two signed action photos – one of Gordon Banks' save against Pele in the 1970 football World Cup, and the other of Geoff Hurst completing his hat-trick in the 1966 World Cup final.

Mr Cox said: "The day was fantastic and was so well-supported.

"We thank our customers as they were superb and donated so much money. It was great to see that the auction was so fierce and saw the pub rammed with supporters.

"It's amazing to surpass the £10,000 milestone and we are now aiming for the next marker – £15,000."
