Changes to the Thornbury Sort IT Centre from August 1st 2011

If you have visited the Thornbury Sort IT Centre over the last few days then you would have noticed the staff informing visitors about changes to the centre that commence from the 1st of next month.
The main changes are as follows
Opening Hours
- 1st April - 30th September 08:00-18:30
- 1st October - 31st March 08:00-16:30
The above times are applicable 7 days a week
Vans & Trailers
Vehicles that are transit size and type or larger are only available on site during the following times
- Mon-Fri 10:00-14:00
- Sat 08:00-12:00
Bagged Waste
Residents will be asked to sort recyclable materials from bagged waste, Sort IT staff will be available to assist if required. Visitors will no longer be able to dispose of sack full of rubbish unless it has been sorted first.
Limits on Materials
Residents that undergo their own DIY projects will only be able to dispose of six bags of rubbish or a car boot load per project. If you have larger quantities then you will be redirected to a chargeable commercial waste site.
If you are disposing of Asbestos then only six double wrapped sheets per project will be accepted and you are required to call ahead before the visit.
Plasterboard or Gypsum Products
Only six sheets or bags will be accepted per project.
New Materials
The site will be accepting the following
- Rigid Plastics
- Cooking Oil
- Printer Cartridges
- Books
- CD's
- DVD's
- Tapes

Hold on a min, I am in the process of changing my bathroom, are you telling me that I am only allowed to take 6 bags to the tip? sorry SORT IT Centre?? just what am I paying council tax for!!!! all this will do is result in a lot more fly tipping! or is that what the council want so that they have a valid reason to jump up the council tax next year!
