Police Officers received a call claiming there was an incendiary device at the Castle School in Thornbury around 9am last Friday Morning.

Police Officers carried out a search at the school on Park Road as well as the surrounding area but no devices were found. Police are now investigating where the call was made from and inquiries are ongoing. Lesions were resumed at the Castle School just after 11am following the evacuation.

The head teacher Melanie Warnes sent an email out to parents following the incident informing parents of the hoax call and the evacuation that took place. The email outlined that the police received a call from an unidentified person stating that an incendiary device was left at the school on Park Road. the email to parents went on to say that the police believed the call to be a hoax but as a precaution the school carried out a full emergency evacuation of the building whilst expert personnel carried out a search at the school and surrounding perimeter.

In an email head teacher Melanie Warries said "As you can appreciate this was a very difficult situation to manage and I must commend all our students for their sensible, mature and patient conduct throughout and our staff for reacting so professionally to ensure the safety of our students. This is exactly what we would expect of them"

Local mum of three Charlotte said "the staff at the Castle School controlled the situation exceptionally well and as a mixture of both staff control and student disciplines that are teached at the school the situation was controlled and no risks were taken" Charlotte continued by saying "my boys came home full of stories but at the same time were well aware of the seriousness, I hope the police work hard to catch the person responsible"
