Beevers stars in Almondsbury's crushing victory

PAUL Beevers, batting at eight, hit 50 and then took 4-15 in Almondsbury's 178-run triumph at local rivals Old Down in the Bristol & District's Second XI League.
Matt Toms sent down two balls for Coalpit Heath away to Thornbury... and claimed two wickets in a five-wicket victory. Linus Haigh weighed in with 4-39 as Thornbury were restricted to 104.
An unbroken third-wicket partnership of 109 between skipper and opener Neil Wilson (79) and James Michallat (57) saw Long Ashton to an eight-wicket success at home to Bishopston.
Captain Nick Jones' undefeated 27 guided Stoke Bishop to a nerve-tingling one-wicket win at home to Stapleton, who were bowled out for only 73.
Stapleton's Liam Glen snapped up an excellent 6-15 from 12 overs in a losing cause.
Jono Howie bagged 4-25 and Alex Beere 3-13 as Civil Service were rushed out for a meagre 56 by Patchway, who secured a nine-wicket triumph.
George Cooksley (5-17) pointed Frenchay towards a two-wicket success at Frampton Cotterell, while Oli Fowler's unbeaten 61 ensured a nine-wicket success for Bitton at Lodway.
Skipper Mike Rowen claimed a hat-trick of stumpings in Old Down's two-wicket triumph away to University Staff in Division One of the Globe Sports Bristol & District League.
