Today seen the force launch their biggest ever Operation Relentless with around 1000 police officers and police staff meeting criminals in our region head-on.
Police showing criminals that they really are relentless on crime
Operation Relentless was originally launched in 2005 during which time the force have successfully ran 30 themed events which have consisted of one day enforcement action, bolstered by three month long high profile "keeping you safe" operations.
The police boast that Operation Relentless has seen the arrest of more than 2100 criminals over the past seven years.
The latest one day operation started with dawn briefings at 4am across the force area followed by the no-messing crackdown on criminals.
Police were very quick to announce a string of successful arrests throughout the morning across the force area resulting in morning more than 28 people being arrested for offences including drugs, robbery, assault and theft.
Speaking about the operation Assistant Chief Constable Anthony Bangham, Gold Commander, said: "Today's operation is about high visibility, high impact policing to show criminals in our area that we will continue to be relentless in our pursuit of them. This should reassure the public that at all times we remain committed to keeping our communities safe and feeling safe."
